It's all Greek to me:)

Last night was Greek class:) For the last couple weeks I have been completely in a fog and did not understand anything!!!(It's taken me 26yrs to figure out English and I still don't fully understand!) Anyways... this week we learned about verbs. So far we learned about the Tense and the voice. It was so cool:) By just "Parcing" different parts of speech you can totally understand God's word better!!!
Pastor gave us this handout on romans 10:9-13 with the Greek written first, then the exact english, and the parcing underneath.
If you take the verb for "might trust" (I can't write the Greek) underneath it says: V2SAAS that means that it is a verb in the second person, aorist tense, active voice, and I haven't learned the mood yet. Anyways... If you think about second person that means "you" and then aorist tense means a simple past action. or a snapshot of the past. It also has an active voice which means that the subject does the action.
So if you look at the word it means that it is something we are suppose to do once(a simple past action) meaning that trusting in Christ for salvation is a one time thing. Like a photo of you throwing a ball, you threw a ball once, the picture was taken, and then the action was done.
Anyways... I don't know if I am making any sense to you, might be the "fog":) There are other examples that I have but I won't bore you with them:)
I just was excited that I finally understand why Greek is so important and I am excited about it again:) It may be totally overwhelming but it is worth it if I can understand God's Word better:)
